Rolex Deepsea Steel
The Rolex Deepsea diver’s watch – the watch that made history has hit replica sites
Rolex released the Sea Dweller Deepsea last year as part of its 2008 lineup.
Packed with innovations and features, it was considered a technological achievement as it set the world record for deepest depth achieved by a watch (3900m underwater).
Below are some of the features that can also be widely found on the latest top quality replicas to hit the replica scene this year (2009)
Features:
Steel
Rolex uses 904L steel for its steel watch cases. A super alloy, 904L is extremely tough and highly polishable.
Most of the DEEPSEA replicas available today are made of at least 440-grade steel. 440-grade stainless steel can be hardened to above Rockwell 55
hardness, making it one of the hardest stainless steels. By comparison, the pinnacle of New York's Chrysler Building is clad with only type 302 stainless steel.
Rolex Glidelock
Created from 904L steel with a higher chromium content, the corrosion-resistant double expansion bracelet on the new Rolex Deepsea was designed for a life underwater. Its patented, new Rolex Glidelock clasp lets divers expand the band to 18 mm in precise 1.8 mm increments, while the Fliplock extension links enable the band to be adjusted by an additional 26 mm. This remarkable extension allows for a secure and comfortable fit over the most protective diving suits. These two separate innovations make the band a true masterpiece.
Helium ValveA nitrogen-alloyed stainless steel helium valve is seamlessly designed into the new Rolex Deepsea, defending against a danger divers can feel but not see: pressure. When the differential between the inside and outside of the watch reaches about three bars, a cobalt super alloy spring within the helium valve compresses, releasing the pressure.
The replicas of the Sea Dweller Deepsea in the market all have this aesthetic feature, making sure that you will never look out of place with your new replica on your wrist.
Movement
The height of precision, the self-winding Oyster movement is entirely engineered and manufactured by Rolex. Robust and reliable, every movement guarantees long-term high performance and is an officially certified Swiss chronometer.
Without achieving chronometer standards, the replicas (grade 1A Japanese and above) all possess remarkable movement and accuracy, using 21 jewel, and some even up to 27 jewel SWISS ETA movements.
Oyster Case Back
Very few people in the world are allowed inside a Rolex Oyster. Only authorised Rolex retailers have the necessary know-how and equipment to gain access. Hermetically sealed to the case with a torque of five newton metres, the back of any Oyster creates an environment that protects the movement from shocks, pressure, dust and water.
Likewise, the replica case backs we have seen are full solid Stainless Steel, and are pressure-sealed to the case, making it water-resistant and ideal for your active and sporty lifestyle.
Triplock Winding Crown
To protect the movement from water and dust, Rolex invented and patented the Triplock winding crown. Once assembled, it screws down on to the Oyster case as securely as a submarine hatch.
We are pleased to announce that the Deepsea models we have seen all have this triplock feature, making it sealed to prevent moisture or vapor entry. Current replica techniques are modern enough to capture the quintessential features of the Triplock Crown:
Stem
The Triplock winding crown stem is the part which links the crown to the movement hence allowing the user to wind the watch or set the time and date.
Gaskets
Three gaskets (one inside the case tube, one inside the crown, one inside the tube of the crown) ensure absolute water resistance.
Crown
The crown is screwed down tightly onto the case tube and against the Oyster case providing an extra level of protection to the watch. The Triplock system is identified by three dots on the crown.
Water-Resistance
Water-resistance is at the heart of the Rolex identity. Rolex invented the first waterproof watch, the Oyster, in 1926. Models created for divers symbolise the supremacy of Rolex water-resistance at even greater depths. Rolex watches have conquered seas and oceans. A strong and privileged association with water is evident throughout the sports collection.
The DEEPSEA models we managed to get our hands on, all have water-resistance as one of their main feature. This will ensure that you will be able to wear it to swim or to the beach without any worries.
